Layout vs full catalog design
Full catalog design includes information architecture, visual concept, sample spreads, and the rules that define the document. Production layout begins when that direction is approved. The task is to apply it accurately across every product page, table, chapter opener, and exceptional spread without allowing the system to drift.
This distinction matters for schedule and budget. If the client already has a complete design system, we can move directly into template setup and page production. If only a cover or a single attractive spread exists, we first identify the missing rules: typography hierarchy, table behavior, image ratios, navigation, and treatment of products that do not fit the sample.
A controlled workflow for large page counts
We begin with the source package and a page map. Product data is checked for missing fields, inconsistent units, duplicate items, and image references. Master pages, paragraph styles, table styles, object styles, and automated page elements are prepared before the full document is assembled.
Layout then moves in batches. A representative section is approved first, after which the same rules are scaled across the remaining pages. Corrections are collected systematically, and final quality control checks page numbering, running headers, links, image resolution, overset text, and export settings.
