Cover-only vs full catalog package
Cover design can be a standalone service or the first stage of a complete catalog. When the inner page count is not final, we can develop the front-cover direction and reference spreads first. The spine and complete wrap are finalized after format, binding, paper, and page extent are confirmed.
What a catalog cover needs to communicate
A successful cover establishes the category, brand level, and purpose of the edition in a few seconds. Industrial catalogs may need to signal precision and reliability; fashion or furniture publications may lead with atmosphere and material quality; dealer documents may prioritize the range name and edition year. We choose the hierarchy according to where the catalog will be seen: on a trade-show table, in a showroom, on a shelf, or as a thumbnail in an inbox.
The cover must also connect with the inner system. Typography, color, image treatment, and graphic devices should continue into the table of contents and chapter dividers. This creates a coherent publication instead of an impressive front page attached to unrelated product layouts.
Preparing the complete cover for print
Final artwork depends on production details. Binding method and page count define the spine; paper and lamination affect color and contrast; foil, embossing, spot varnish, and die cuts require separate technical layers. We coordinate safe zones, bleeds, fold positions, barcode or contact blocks, and printer templates before export.
For digital distribution, we can also prepare a screen version with an appropriate crop and contrast at thumbnail size. The visual concept remains the same, but the file is adapted to how recipients first encounter it.
